Troubleshooting
Start with the mechanical fit, then confirm slicer and G-code setup. Most failures come from tolerance mismatch, friction in the filament path, or stale slot coordinates.
Filament change fails or picks the wrong slot
- Regenerate G-code with the current slot count and measured X positions.
- Confirm the MechAMS change-filament G-code is pasted into the printer preset, not the filament profile.
- Check that every PTFE tube enters the toolhead cleanly and does not drag against the mechanism.
- Verify the parking height before running a print with tall geometry.
Parts bind after printing
- Start with the 0.20 mm tolerance files.
- If parts bind, move to a looser tolerance variant or add positive XY compensation in small steps.
- If parts feel sloppy, move tighter or reduce compensation.
- Reprint only the affected part after each change.
Printer reports filament not loaded
- Check the sensor magnet orientation in the MechAMS toolhead.
- Confirm the sensor board and cable are seated before closing the toolhead assembly.
- If the signal drops mid-print, pause safely, park the toolhead, and re-seat the magnet before resuming.
